Mansion from Molehill #4 - Check!

After much pain and suffering, this project is finally done! I am loving the burlap (applied with liquid starch and a temporary solution - so if I ever get tired of it, I can pull it down and wipe the wall off/reuse the burlap [as if it's ever as easy as other bloggers say it is, right?]). It mellowed out the bright blue paint and I love that you can see just a hint of blue underneath. Plus, the burlap provided the neutral texture I was looking for. To see the misfortune of the blue paint, visit this link:

It's unfortunate that I was too lazy to fix the lone burlap string straggler hanging from the bottom right of the frame before I took these pictures. Never mind that I didn't stage the whole dresser. But, I'm not a rich a famous blogger (...yet...) so I'm off the hook.

We followed these instructions:

But we deemed them a bit advanced for us. It was going to be too much work to make it fit the TV perfectly and then we would have to add holes to vent and allow for airflow, etc., etc. Instead we decided (and when I say we, I mean me) to go with my original inspiration picture and make it larger than the TV. Inspiration as follows (click the picture to see her whole bedroom):

Just pretend that I styled my dresser like that for you, too. The S, of course, is for Stephanie.

I used the instructions from the following two websites for applying my burlap with liquid starch:

I have to be honest about a couple of things. For some reason I feel it's important to point out that the aesthetic achieved with the burlap on the second website...isn't my style. Why I needed to get that out there? I don't know. Her instructions helped me get to where I needed to be. The warning of burlap shrinkage due to the liquid starch from the first website was spot on. It will shrink. And, you WILL get the stink eye from your husband who kept telling you from the beginning that you didn't cut enough. As I am learning to say, you can't see it unless you're looking for it.

I think I have given credit where it is due and I haven't left anyone out. I keep reading that bloggers get upset when you don't link back to what was originally their hard work. I hope one day to be the "linked-to" and not the "link-ee."

I guess life isn't so bad after all...

A few dog walks ago, I found this hand-written note on the ground. It says:

"Shannon,

hey! Hows it goin buddy? I guess shit here is good. Could b better. Been doin a lot of thinkin bout how I got stupidly married 4 the wrong reasons. I have been thinkin bout movin out and go back 2 my mom's 4 a while. I'm not happy anymore honestly."

As Ken said, she speaks bingo. And all I have to do is look at this note to remind me how good life really is!

Try Number Three

I think we've got a good fix! Cross your fingers this works...
